6 months ago, my co-founder and me started Sputnik. Our thesis was: in large arbitration matters, there’s an inherent imbalance that AI can help solve: plaintiffs have lots of time and generally large budgets to overwhelm the defense with 10,000s of documents. We believed AI could help even that out.

Over the next few months, we built an AI system that made it dramatically easier to use AI with very large legal cases.

We turned this into a company and spent some time selling. The product works and is ridiculously useful to the teams using it. But it’s not a product the market wants to buy right now.

So we are biting the bullet and shutting down the company.

We are thankful to our early customers, and will continue to support them for a while.
